Hydrocephalus is one of the major neurological ailments drawing the attention of the neurosurgeon. The estimated incidence of congenital hydrocephalus in developed countries is 0.7 per 1000 live births. 1 Surgical options for diverting the CSF flow across the obstructive pathology has been a time tested method of treating this pathology. The modalities of CSF diversion have seen major refinements over decades. VP shunt has been a time tested treatment modality for decades, for various etiologies leading to obstruction to CSF pathways.
